Lewis Kaplan began teaching at The Juilliard School in 1964 with chamber music classes that included violinists Pinchas Zukerman and Kyung Wha Chung. The piano virtuoso Emanuel Ax and the cellists Yo-Yo Ma and Fred Sherry soon followed them. Today, Mr. Kaplan’s former violin students include concertmasters of major orchestras, violinists in many major string quartets, and faculty members at major colleges and conservatories worldwide.
